***General Questions***

Is this just a trial version of the software that expires in a few weeks?
NO, this is free professional software. You are downloading the full version and will have free access to future updates to the software.

This is great software, but what do you get out of it? Why is it free?
Auction Submit is just one product EZ Time Software, LLC is releasing. We're hoping you'll like it so much you'll be interested in purchasing other products we'll be marketing - but of course there is no obligation.

Is there a MAC version of Auction Submit(tm)?
Not at this time. We may develop a Mac version in the future, but because of other development demands this is probably a few months away. If you EMAIL us we will place you on our MAC users list and notify you when this becomes available.

Are you going to be adding other auctions to Auction Submit(tm) ?
We are carefully following the suggestions and feedback that we have been getting and do intend to continue to upgrade the features of Auction Submit and add other auction sites. If you subscribed to our mailing list when you registered your copy of Auction Submit you should receive notices by email. We will also be posting information on the Announcements page.

Can I use Auction Submit(tm) to post "Adult" auctions to eBay(tm)?
At this time, Auction Submit does not support submissions to these categories. We may be adding support for Adult auctions in a future version.

Does Auction Submit(tm) support eBay Motors(tm)?
Not at this time. Because of the way that eBay has set this up, we would have to develop a whole new module to support the categories that eBay has moved to eBayMotors. We are waiting to see how eBayMotors shapes up and are evaluating the feedback that we have been receiving to see if there is strong demand for this. If you EMAIL us we will place you on our eBay Motors(tm) request list and notify you when this becomes available.

***Download Questions***

I have never downloaded anything before - or I can't seem to download the software - can you walk me through this?
Sure, just go to our step by step DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS.
As a general overview -- The way that most software downloads (including Auction Submit)are installed is as follows -- You download a compressed (zipped) file that contains everything that is needed to install the software. This is downloaded to a "temporary" folder. You then locate and "unzip" this file and install the software in its proper directory.

I am having problems registering my copy of Auction Submit.
There is a possiblity that this is being caused by a conflict with other software on your computer or there is a problem in the way that you have computer configured. Please CLICK HERE for suggestions on resolving these issues.

How do I download updates to Auction Submit?
We recognize that the auction sites are constantly making changes that could affect the performance of our software, so Auction Submit was designed to give an easy way to install changes and updates. When an update is issued all that you have to do is get online, close all other applications, click on the Modules dropdown menu at the top of your Auction Submit screen, and select Update Modules. You will see a few status screens and then get an Update Complete window. Just close this window and within 30 seconds (please be patient) Auction Submit should reappear with all updates installed".

***Operation Questions***

How can I tell which version of Auction Submit I have?
Check your version number by clicking the Help dropdown at the top of your Auction Submit screen and selecting "About Auction Submit".

Where is the User's Manual?
The User's Manual is online at http://www.auctionsubmit.com/manual/ .

I am located outside of the US. When I use Auction Submit I have problems setting prices in US Dollars and I get RunTime errors.
Auction Submit users who are in countries other than the US occasionally have "Type Mismatch" errors and difficulties using USD depending on how their Internet "Regional Settings" are configured.

You can check your "Regional Settings" by clicking on the START button on your toolbar, go up to SETTINGS and select CONTROL PANEL. When the Control Panel screen opens click on the REGIONAL SETTINGS icon (looks like a globe). This will open the "Regional Settings Properties" screen. Your main setting is under the "Regional Settings" tab.

You might want to change this setting to "English(United States)" (Note this is NOT the same as English(British) )- you will probably have to reboot your computer after you do this. (You can always change this back.)

I want to copy description text from pre-Auction Submit auctions into Auction Submit, but don't know how to paste them in.
Here are useful ways to do this:

To copy and paste: Highlight (using your mouse) the text that you want to copy. Right click your mouse. A menu will pop up with cut, copy, paste (and a few other) options. Left click on "copy". Go to where ever you want to paste this to. Left click on the spot that you want to paste this to. Then right click and the same menu will pop up. Left click on "paste" and the text should appear.

Sometimes it is easier to use your keyboard to copy and paste. To do this: Highlight (using your mouse) the text that you want to copy . Hold down the "Ctrl" key and click the "C" key while you are holding down the "Ctrl" key. No menus will pop up, but this automatically copies the highlighted text. Now go to where ever you want to paste this to and left click. This time hold down the "Ctrl" key and click the "V" key while you are holding down the "Ctrl" key. This will automatically paste the text.

Can I add more than one photo to my listing?
  1. YES! The easiest way to do this is to select one of the multiple image templates provided with Auction Submit. To select a template just click on the "Select Template" button at the bottom of the "Create New Listing" screen. The Select Template screen also has a function to allow you to view the format of each template.
  2. You can also add multiple pictures by inserting HTML in the description box. This really is not hard to do -- here is a quick and simple tutorial Note: You can display two pictures by inserting the URL of one of them in the "Picture URL" box of the "Create an Auction" screen (this one will display at the bottom of your listing). Insert the other picture using HTML in the "Description" box

If you are not comfortable creating your own HTML, you can also use an editor to create the look that you want, then cut and paste the HTML from there --Just one word of caution --Amazon is very restrictive about HTML and they will bounce submissions that contain the following tags: <HEAD> <HTML> <TITLE> <BODY> ...none of these tags are needed for adding pictures to the description, so if your editor generates them you will need to delete them.

I have two different accounts on the auction sites that I use for two different sets of inventory. How can I keep these separate?
If you have two sets of inventory that you do not want to mix, the best solution might be to set up two copies of Auction Submit(tm) . You can easily do this by running the setup program twice. The first time use the default installation settings. Then create a new folder on your hard drive to be used to segregate a second copy. Run the "auctionsubmit.exe" zipped file that you already have downloaded, but when you run the setup be sure to designate the new folder as your destination. DO NOT let the setup use its default setup destination or you will overwrite everything that you have in your first copy. After you do this, you can bring separately named shortcuts to your desktop. NOTE: It is best if you do not have both copies open at the same time, i.e. to use -- open one copy, use it, close it and then open the other copy. It is particularly important that you not have both copies open when you use the Update Modules function.

How do I select the "Reserve Price" auction option?
When you are on the "Create New Listing" screen, there are two boxes with dropdown menus just below the "URL of Picture" box. The second one down is the "Auction Type" box. Click on the down arrow and you will see a list of the possible auction types. When you select "Reserve Price" an additional box will appear for you to enter your reserve price.

How do I set up Auction Submit to automatically insert counters on my listings?
To automatically add a counter to your listings, you must first sign up for a counter account at Shoporium.com (see http://www.shoporium.com/counters/ ) to be able to use this feature. This only requires basic information and just takes a minute. After you set up your account just configure your copy of Auction Submit by going to the Options - Edit Defaults menu and selecting the "Counters" choice. When you click on the "Counters" choice a separate window will open that will enable you to setup your counter feature. On this screen you designate if you want to use counters, insert your counter account name, and designate whether you want visible or invisible counters. Be sure to click the "Save" button.

How do I use the Current Shop Items tab?
In Version 3.0 of Auction Submit, we added the ability to rotate or create listings to a shop on Shoporium.com You can easily register and set up a shop there... For more info on Shoporium please see http://www.shoporium.com/join/ Once you set up your shop, you can generate listings there the same way that you create auction listings. On the "Create a New Listing" screen and on the "Relist" screen, we have added a Shoporium option to the "Submit To" dropdown. All you do is select the Shoporium option and proceed the same way you would with an auction listing. This means that you can easily rotate items that do not sell at auction to your shop. The Current Shop Items screen displays all inventory currently listed on your shop and also has the functions to shift an item from the shop to an auction or to record a sold item.

How do I get started submitting inventory to Shoporium.com(tm)?
Start by taking a look at the Quick Guide to submitting inventory to Shoporium using Auction Submit.

Why doesn't my picture show up when I Preview an auction listing?
When the original Auction Submit was designed we assumed that it would be used primarily while you are offline. Since your pictures are on the web, we wanted to prevent you from seeing a "broken" icon or having to wait for your browser to decide that it could not access your picture when you previewed your auction -- so if you are not using a template, the picture that you insert in the URL of Picture box on the Create New Listing screen is excluded from the preview screen. If you want to always be able to preview this picture, just go to Options - Edit Defaults - General and check the checkbox at the bottom of the screen. NOTE...You can always check to make sure that your picture URLs are good after you upload your picture files to your picture host by pasting a URL into the "location" box of your browser and clicking the "Enter" key.

Other possible causes:

1. The "URL of Picture" field on the Add New Listing screen already has the "http://" filled in for you. Make sure that you are not doubling the "http://" . Particularly if you are copying and pasting your picture URL it is easy to overlook this and paste in the "http://" again.
2. You must be online to view your picture. NOTE: If you are using Internet Explorer, make sure that your browser is not set to "Work Offline". You check this by clicking on the "File" dropdown menu on Internet Explorer and making sure that "Work Offline" is NOT checked.

When I try to Preview a listing I get an error message that says "Preview.htm not found"
When you go to preview an auction or see the help files Auction Submit automatically opens your browser to display this information. When it does this it looks for the browser that you have designated as the "default" browser. Usually this is something that you would set when you load your browser software for the first time (but sometimes this step gets skipped).

If you have Internet Explorer try this:
  1. Open up Internet Explorer.
  2. Under the View menu, click Internet Options (in 4.x browsers) or Options (in 3.x browsers).
  3. In the dialog box that appears, click the tab labeled Programs.
  4. At the bottom of the dialog box you will see a checkbox that reads "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser." Make sure this box is checked.
  5. Click OK and close Internet Explorer.

On computers that have Netscape or both Internet Explorer and Netscape and you want Netscape as your default browser, you can find a page of instructions for you to reset Netscape as your default browser HERE on the Netscape website.

How do I backup my auction data in Auction Submit (tm)?
All auction data is stored in a file called storage.mdb which is located in your AuctionSubmit folder that is in your Program Files folder (assuming that you used the default location when you initially installed the software.) Just copy the entire storage.mdb file and paste it into an alternate location (outside of the AuctionSubmit folder). You might want to create a new folder on your hardrive just for this purpose.

I am an AOL user and I just can't seem to get the Update Modules function to import new updates to Auction Submit.
If you are not getting the update, the possibilities include problems caused by your browser cache, software conflicts, AOL Parental Controls settings, or quirks of the AOL proxy server system. For a detailed list of solutions CLICK HERE.

***eBay Questions***

Does Auction Submit support the eBay "List in Two Categories" and the "Buy It Now" functions?
Yes! You can access these functions by clicking on the "Extras" button at the bottom of the Add New Listing screen. You can read more detail about these functions in the User Guide. If you cannot find these functions on your copy of Auction Submit, you need to import all new updates by running the Update Modules function.

Will the PIC icon on ebay(tm) be displayed when I submit auctions with pictures?
If you enter a URL of a picture in the "URL of Picture" box of the "Create a New Auction" screen or you use one of the Templates, you WILL get the picture icon on ebay(tm) (NOTE: ebay(tm) does not display the picture icon on your "Current Auctions by Seller" page)

If I relist auctions to eBay(tm) using Auction Submit(tm) will I get the eBay(tm) free relist credit?
As long as you meet the requirements that eBay has designated (you can review these at http://pages.ebay.com/help/sellerguide/selling-item.html ), your relisted auctions should be eligible for the eBay credit program. You should see acknowledgement of this in the listing confirmation email that you get from eBay. Note: eBay's policy is that your relist is only free if your item sells when relisted and that listings are only eligible for the eBay free relist program for a single relist.

When I try to submit auctions, I get a "Cannot Connect to eBay" message.
Usually a "Cant Connect" message is caused by either a very slow response time from one of eBay's servers or a combination of factors in which your computer, your ISP, the network, and eBay server conditions all play a role. -- You can keep an eye on eBay server problems by monitoring their announcement board at http://www2.ebay.com/aw/announce.shtml

If this is a recurring problem, here a few other things to check:

1. If you are using Internet Explorer as your browser (particularly IE5) -- Make sure that your browser is not set for "Work Offline" -- This setting prevents your browser and Auction Submit from communicating with any site on the Internet. To check on this click on the File dropdown menu of Internet Explorer and make sure that "Work Offline" is not checked.
2. Make sure that you have the latest updates to your copy of Auction Submit-- Get online, close all other applications, click on the Modules dropdown menu at the top of your Auction Submit screen, and select Update Modules. You will see a few status screens and then get an Update Complete window. Just close this window and within 30 seconds (please be patient) Auction Submit should reappear with all updates installed.
3. Make sure that you are not using any software on your computer similiar to one of the "Internet Accelerator", cookie filtering, or content filtering products - or any software that sets up a "proxy server" on your computer?. Some (but there are many more)of the brand names include Intermute, Cookie Pal, Net Sonic, WebRifle, Speedconnect, NetAccelerator, Cyberpatrol, or Net Nanny. If you have one of these installed, you will have to disable it to use Auction Submit.
4. If you are on AOL it is possible that your AOL Parental Controls settings can cause this effect. Make sure that these controls are set for unrestricted use.

When I try to submit auctions, I get an "Input Error" message.
This error message is originating at eBay and is a generic message that eBay uses for a number of situations.

First of all make sure that you have the latest updates installed on your copy of Auction Submit. To definitively check on your version of Auction Submit -- Click on the Options dropdown menu at the top of your Auction Submit screen, and select Edit Defaults --eBay. When the Edit eBay Defaults window comes up, look at the bottom of this screen. Between the "Save Defaults" and "Cancel" buttons you should see text that tells you which eBay module version you have installed. The latest eBay module version is given on our Announcements Board. If you do not have the latest updates, then you need to run the Update Modules function to import all updates.

Here are other situations that result in an eBay Input Error:
1. eBay is very restrictive about the use of Javascript and HTML "FORM" tags in listings. Auction Submit does not use either of these, but sellers who are inserting either of these in their Description field may get an "Input Error". Are you trying to relist auctions that were imported from eBay and that previously used eBay's IPIX picture hosting? Ironically eBay uses both Javascript and HTML "FORM" tags in displaying IPIX hosted pictures. What can happen is that Auction Submit imports eBay's IPIX code -- but when this is resubmitted to eBay -- eBay blocks the listing (because it is detecting Javascript and "FORM" tags). We are looking into this and to see if we can strip the offending code when importing -- In the meantime, you should be able to relist these items by first deleting all of the code at the end of the Description that generates the IPIX picture -- This code starts with the following " <a name="ebayphotohosting "

2. Be sure to check your eBay payment options on "my eBay" -- eBay will also generate the Input Error message if the date on your credit card on file has expired.

3. Until recently, eBay defaulted your Payment & Shipping terms to "See Item Description" if you did not submit anything different with your listing. Now, eBay requires that you specifically designate your Payment & Shipping preferences -- Make sure that you have selected at least one default method of payment on the Edit eBay Defaults screen on Auction Submit as follows:

Click on the Options dropdown menu at the top of your Auction Submit screen and select "Edit Defaults -- eBay". When this window opens, click on the "Payment/Shipping" tab and make sure that you have at least one check box selected under "Accepted Methods of Payment". Then click "Save Defaults".

4. It is possible that this is category related. eBay is continuosly doing category reorganizations. In some of these they have deleted previously existing subcategories or shifted them to new categories. If you inadvertently attempt to submit an auction to a deleted category, you may get eBay's "Input Error" error message.

Run the Update eBay Categories function -- get online, click on the Categories dropdown menu at the top of the Auction Submit screen, and select the eBay update choice. You will get a status screen which gives you all of the changes. All of the category changes are automatically imported to your copy of Auction Submit when you do this. Wait for the "Done Updating Categories" message (depending on eBay's load this may take 10-20 minutes) and then close the status screen. If you have any listings on your New Listings screen when you do this that had their categories deleted by eBay, you will have to edit them to select a new category. Be sure to check any of these listings before submitting. This is also true of any listings that are on the Unsold or Sold screens that you may want to relist and of your default category selection.

5. Are you trying to submit to an "Adult" category? Auction Submit does not support the double log in for these categories and this could generate an error.

When I run the "Update eBay Categories" function I get an error message that says, "Error reading category pages".
Make sure that you have the latest updates installed in your copy of Auction Submit. Information about the latest updates are available at http://www.auctionsubmit.com/announce.htm

It is also possible that you will occasionally receive this error message. eBay has expanded their volume of categories so much that occasionally their servers have a hard time delivering the files that have the category lists. Because of this, Auction Submit now contains error checking programs that insure that you get the correct, complete, list of categories. If the program detects an error from eBay's servers and is unable to get a complete, correct list, you will get this message. You should then try the Update Categories function again.

***Amazon Questions***

When I submit auctions to Amazon I get the following error:"We are unable to post your input because it seems to contain HTML code that we do not support."
Amazon is the most restrictive site when it comes to the use of HTML. Auction Submit transmits the HTML exactly as you have written it and then displays Amazon's error message if your submission is not successful. Amazon's standards are as follows:
" The auction item page will reject incorrect HTML codes, scripts, style sheets, 3D, and forms. Similarly, it will reject submissions with the following common tags: <html> , <title> , <body> ."
We have also found that there are occasional other tags which will be rejected including

When I try to submit auctions, I get a "Cannot Connect to Amazon" message.
Usually a "Cant Connect" message is caused by either a very slow response time from one of Amazon's servers or a combination of factors in which your computer, your ISP, the network, and Amazon server conditions all play a role.

After I submit my auctions to Amazon, I go to the Amazon site and see my listings but there are no pictures.
One common problem on Amazon is caused by the way that they log users on to the Amazon site. If you are logged on to their "secure server" you will not be able to see any of your pictures (This is part of Amazon's design.) You can tell if you are logged on to the secure server by looking at the URL of the page you are on. If it starts with "https://" instead of "http://" then you are on the secure server. You can shift to the normal server by removing the "s" at the end of the "http" and then clicking the "enter" key. You might also want to log out on Amazon (you can do this by clicking on the "Your Account" link on Amazon and selecting "log out") and then log back in specifying the standard server instead of the secure server.

***Yahoo Questions***

How can I add the Yahoo module to my copy of Auction Submit3.0?
To add the Yahoo module please see http://www.auctionsubmit.com/addyahoo.htm .

I have never used Yahoo before and am getting log on error messages when I try to submit auctions to Yahoo.
You may not be properly registered to sell on Yahoo. To sell on Yahoo, the registration process is more complex than just general registration on the site. It is actually a four step process, as follows:
You must:
  • Register,
  • Agree to terms of service,
  • Submit a credit card number,
  • and then confirm your email address.

To register on Yahoo see:
